Default Ever wonder how browsers view your web page?

The most important factor in trying to convert a visitor into a lead is to attract their attention long enough so they can continue browsing your website. Some amazing research has been conducted to determine which part of the screen people look at when they browse the internet. Researchers used heat maps to determine which areas of the screen were most effective in drawing the viewer’s attention.

Here are some of the main findings that determine how people view your web page:

The general consensus from the studies show that the most “eye catching” spot on a web page is the upper-left hand corner. This is the first place people look to find out what is going on, figure out what the page is about, and what their navigational options are. If you don’t convince people that they are at the right place in the upper-left hand corner, chances are you will lose them. The heat maps also show that visitors tend to look at the direction of an image of a person. One effective way you can attract a visitor’s attention is to have a nice picture where you want the browser to look. You can also have a picture of yourself pointing to where you want the visitor to look.

Interesting, I always wondered if there were any studies on this. Good stuff to know for both ad creation and of course website design. I am always tweaking things I will have to give this a try

Oftentimes, appearance is given more focus than content by the web developer. No one will try to view your site if it is so boring and plain (except for those desperate for information). I was so intrigued about the do's and don'ts in making websites. I guess this post of yours listed one of the do's: Make the upper-left corner of the web page really attractive!
