I recently saw an ad try to sell a real estate domain name for thousands of dollars. The ad implied that obtaining it would get you on page 1 of Google. As a search engine optimization specialist I can tell you that while having a domain name with good keywords in it is great to does nothing for you if you do not optimize your website.

The number one way that you are going to achieve page one rankings in any search engine is your linking strategy. You can think of it in terms of votes. Every time a website links to you it is a vote for you in the eyes of the search engines. The more votes that you have the better your rankings will be.

The best links are links from established websites that the search engines trust. A good place to start your link building is with directories. With directories however it is not quantity but quality.

Here are the best directories to choose. Some are free and some are paid.

dmoz.org - Free
dir.yahoo.com - $299 per year
botw.org - $99 per year or $299 one-time fee
joeant.com - $29 per year
aboutus.org - Free

Hi,

It is true that it is not that easy to be on the top s far as Google concerns as, it is important to go for submiting you site to the good directories as, this will definitely make your site rank well and also it is important to little work for your site as, there are several real estate sites that are already ranking.

so, one for real estate sites it is very necessary to work as much as possible specially on the properties taking local area under cosideration.

I agree getting listed on directories is important but remember it is only one of the many things that are necessary to do to rank on the first page. Like was mentioned...content is very important, and so is; longevity on the internet, new content on a regular basis, relevant links both internal and external, and the normal things with "Meta Tags". It all comes into play together. It took me 8 months to get on the first page of Google and then another 3 months to get at or near the top of the first page. If you are interested I'll dig up and post some of Google's own recommended things to do to your site to help it rank better.

Being number on Google is quite hard especially that Google has a different way than other search engines, crawling or getting to the number rank would quite take time and you must remember that you should continue optimizing it to retain that position.

Landing on the first page of Google is not easy. It takes a lot of hard work and you need impressive content, relevant back links, and as mentioned above, good directories to submit to.
Working on SEO to rank 1 in Google is not an easy task! It takes times and countless efforts.
The only reason is Google always changing the algorithms very frequently.

Go after long tail keywords and get good quality links PR backlinks.

I have 25 different websites on the first page of google for their keywords and it takes work but if you have a plan it can be MUCH easier.
