    Default Active Rain ?

I have been using Active Rain for a few months now and have become number 1 not only in my town but also in my county. I wonder what you guys have to say about Active Rain.

Please leave your success or failure story here.

I was number 8 in my state until that company bought them. I stopped posting when a competitor of all of us, house values, bought them.

You can tell when an AR agent shows up on this forum because they start making empty posts with a lot of words that say nothing.

I don't know what you mean by that. But to Answer SSHO, Active Rain is basically a Real Estate Blogger tool, as I understand it at least. I have to say though, my active rain blog posts are always showing up page1 of google.

I was wondering though are there better alternatives out there or is active rain the top dog?

Active Rain is really nothing special. If you take the time to blog you will find having your own self hosted WordPress blog will be of far more benefit. You can access the free WordPress software at http://wordpress.org . You can also set up a free WordPress blog at http://wordpress.com . I however feel that having your site self hosted is by far the best option. In fact with many of the premium blogging themes out there right now you can actually set up what looks like a traditional website but recieve the benefits of having the autoping and plugins that the WordPress community offers.

I agree with Greg most of the Active Rain types are people that have only learned about the web marketing for real estate recently or all their information has come from the Active Rain community. Most hard core bloggers view Active Rain as training wheels for bloggers. I personally feel that to much of what is touted as the way to do things will get you thrown out of the real estate blogger web and labeled a spammer.

A good free blog anywhere, even on your own site can match and even out perform AR. Just a little effort setting it up and all the rewards can go to you instead of that lead generator.

Its a great tool to SEO your main site. I use it to post information about different areas that I cover with links to main site. And as I said before alot of my blogs shows up on google searches on the first page.
