Twitter Users
I am a new Twitter user and am curious how you are using it to promote your business. Would love to hear from this community what innovative things you are doing with it.

I'm not a twitter user since Twitter is only a spam tool.
But, to promote your business, you'll have to put your URL in your tweets...
I was following 3 people and got 50 to 60 URL daily for their business. So I stop Twitter...It's worse than my junk emails....

Twitter never really worked for me. Seems like everyone's busy posting links and none or only a few are reading it...Ive tracked my links on twitter and got very dissapointing results as far as click thru are concern but you might be lucky enough to network with some good contacts if you are persistent and patient enough like some of the agents and brokers here in the forum....
I imagine some groups are not as spammy as the real estate ones...

The best part about twitter that social sites like facebook do not have is the search ability. You are able to search what people are "tweeting" about, and that can be a valuable resource to your real estate business.

Posts of interest
You must post something of interest to others. For example, I was introduced to Larry Goins and Than Merrill 2 weeks ago
and learned alot just speaking to them. I posted a remark
in regards to that and all of the sudden people wanted to know
what we talked about and started following me on twitter.
Give them something of substance. Not "Heading to bed now".
That doesn't catch people's interest.

I wrote a bit about why twitter is useful here:
Using Twitter In Real Estate
One way is that even if you don't post, it can be helpful to follow top agents in your area to keep up with market news (and gossip). From there, you can decide if it's worth actually "tweeting" yourself.Last edited by michaelsf; 07-01-2009 at 10:54 AM.

twitter is good
I have been a twitter user since long and i can say that twitter can really do wonders if you can do it right. just make sure of a few things,
1 - Do NOT post them a url , and your marketing url, never.
2- You will be surprised how many followers you can get when you are posting interesting stuff, not going to bed tonight. type stuff, instead use something like, i saw that girl, i wonder if she is married or not, and add a lot of descriptions.
People love descriptions,
In no time , you will have like thousands of followers, and they are the ones who are going to be actually working for you, 24x7, retweeting you. all the time.
Its' called viral marketing
