Of the choices listed, I'd go with:

    e. Not Being Clear.

Gross, Stupid, Offensive = could potentially be memorable.

Boring = at least you probably got your point across.

But not being clear means your target audience completely missed your point - and as such, no calls to action can be acted upon.

I think not being clear about the strategy while marketing a product or the service is the greatest sin for the sales person.

    That wasn't a choice.

Thanks for all of your inputs.

My answer is d. followed closely by the e. And yet every time I watch TV or notice the billboards on the streets, I've seen these sins violated again and again. Most marketing is boring. And most marketing is not clear about what they are trying to sell. And most marketing to sell houses are boring. Yes, they might be clear that the ad is for a house for sale, but most of the time, the marketing is not clear as to why I, as the potential buyer should be interested in the house they're selling.

If you are gross, you look stupid, therefore boring people because of unclear claims. All in all you are very offensive! What a short list.

I would have to say E. not being clear. If I were to have two choices, I would follow up with D. being boring. In my opinion, with all due respect to every other opinion, when you are clear about your goals and your plan of action results are bound to follow. I believe that the more energy you put into your plan of action, the more energy you will have with your presentation. You can't have any "fake orgasms" in marketing. Keep in mind that facts tell and stories sell. When making a presentation, having the facts will make for great information. When you have a related story to share with your business associate, it brings a sort of level of invitation. Humanizing a transaction takes the boring factor out and will do wonders for your presentation.

I have to say being boring followed by not being clear. I picked being boring because if it is boring people will probably not notice it and they will not remember it.

Not being clear is also bad but atleast, maybe, they will still notice it and have some idea of what you were trying to get at.

Being gross or stupid can work because people may start talking about it or at least remember it.

For me the most marketing sin ,.. is not able to relay the true message of the content... and only give examples.... and ends up wooing the clients .. then the last thing you realized is that you don't even know what his/her talking about... and also boring people... God they are insufferable..!!!

I'd have to say boring, but taking it one step further being too salesy. No one wants to hear "I am the greatest realtor, i have been around this area, blah, blah, blah" Seriously. Trying showing value instead. Try giving sound tips and advice that your potential clients can glean and find useful. By the time they pick up the phone to call you, they already see you as a person of integrity and you are partially home!
