In real estate it's location location location and in...
And in online marketing and long term success in the world of online marketing and advertising is LINKS LINKS LINKS
Do you agree?
I've studied a small number of sites that are doing very well in a number of areas and found out that all of them are agressively working on building backlinks to their websites from sites with relevant content.
While building one way link to your site, keep in mind that:- The site linking to your website has to be indexed by Google
- The site has got to be related to your industry (realestate)
- Links coming to your site has to be permanent (if possible)
- Page linking to your site should not be deep down, no more than two clicks away from main page.
- Keyword used for the link are very important for search engine, use your keywords wisely
- No flow links may have none of little advantage (important)
- Page linking to your site should not have more than 20 outbound links

This is a great list and a good start.
I personally prefer to use offline marketing methods to generate online leads. This way you control your lead flow and not dependent on the constantly changing internet.
That is just my personal preference.

Participating in local interest interactive websites may bring good business (if not quality links.)
Look for local Blogs, Forums and local newspapers where you can post comments.
Your Directory is also a good resource to consider.

you can control the quality of the links coming to your site though several means.
1- article marketing and exchange - article marketing is simply creating content that might fit well into your site and publishing it with your chosen key word linked back to your website - article exchange is a lil bit different in that you find a site that is not in direct competition but related (as mentioned above) and you offer them content in exchange for the link to your site.
2- Real Estate Review Sites - Right now this is still a fledgling designate, but it is there in other broader formats. have the site review your service through conversation's w/ clients; over looking your website; and interviewing you and your team. they will write about their conclusions - and often target a local market for you in doing this - and generate leads. Some of the sites are free, some - not so much. The traffic coming from them however will give you real interested consumers.
3- facebook and social networking sites - direct to consumer contact, direct to you linking.
