Probably it might be expensive when you have low CTR with general targeted keywords.

Unfortunately adwords is extremely expensive. if you want a popular search term plan on paying upwards of $10 per click or more to be listed on their front page of ads. If your not on the front page, you'll never be seen.

I recently used MSN's advertising stuff, and they are far cheaper, but the exposure also kinda sux.

Google AdWords is when you pay Google for clicks that bring customers to your website from Google's search engine (and content) pages related to a set of keywords. For my company, this has been good for us - lots of exposure on commonly-searched terms at a reasonable cost - we pay around

I used google adwords for a while. Spend a few hundred bucks to learn that I was much better off spending that money working on the organic results for my site. Just my 2 cents.

    Default Google adwords campaign

Google Adwords is the most direct way to bring visitors to your site. I'd recommend reading some advanced (not beginner books on it). If you pay attention to keyword combos and adgroups, you can get your cost per click down, especially if you can keep your ctr high enough on broad industry terms (which is tricky) i pay 50 to 60 cents for click right now. Make sure to install tracking for the adds (conversions), and do your A/B and multivariate page testing.

Google Adwords can be a good investment, but be careful and set daily limits for yourself.

Be as specific as you can with your key words. You don't want simply more traffic to your site, you want customers that are likely to use your services or buy your products because you're paying for their eyeballs.

I think Adwords is paired best with a landing page that calls the visitor to action. Think about ROAS (return on ad spend). $0.50 per click may not sound like a lot but it adds up fast and it's not guaranteed to provide you with any paying customers.

    Default Adwords

Adwords is great as long as you can track conversions and apply a value. Since we are an online real estate license school and sell our courses via our website it's easy for us to justify our Adwords investment.
