Default Play safe with proper tenant screening

That is very well said that property management is a very interesting business to do. There are many facets to this business. Property managers have to keep a balance and satisfy both parties i.e. the tenants and the landlords. It is advised that they should carry proper background checks for the tenants and tenant screening should be the part of their marketing strategy. This will build their reputation among the landlords of keeping only paying tenants.

From a landlords points of view, it is easier to use a property management company. It means the advertising of property, the admin and the legal side are taken care of by someone you can trust. Means there's a lot less to worry about. Especially useful if you rent out a lot of properties.

That is true, the exercise becomes a lot more easy for the landlords if they just pass on their responsibilities to the property managers. And this is where the property managers can cash upon. By passing a little extra buck they will feel relieved, but only if the property manager has built a reputation of being trustworthy. For this they have to be careful while renting out to tenants. The prospective tenants should be considered only after proper verification of their criminal and credit history.
And this of course means more business for property managers.

Property management is the operation of commercial, industrial or residential real estate. This is much akin to the role of management in any business. It involves the processes, systems and manpower required to manage the life cycle of all acquired property as defined above including acquisition, control, accountability, responsibility, maintenance, utilization, and disposition.

If you're going to leave your property in the hands of a property management company, it's important to feel like you can trust them to make decisions in your best interest. We use a property management software from realpage.com to conduct tenant screenings and maintain a clear budget etc. Having tools like that in place is helpful for maintaining several properties without sacrificing quality of service.
