James,
It really depends on who you know in each location. If you find a trust worthy person who knows the area and will help you, this will aid you greatly.
It all depends on the individual location of each area. If you look hard enough you will be able to find great REI deals in any city or country, as long as the population is increasing.
I would suggest either make a good contact in the location you are interested in, or learn your area well enough and work there.
In my completely BIASED opinion the USA is a better investment that the UK, and Atlanta is one of the best locations to invest now, for reasons out lined in my blog.

Thank you Laurence for your suggestion. Actually i am not much familiar with both countries. I have just started to think about real estate investment from few months ago. Firstly i have to search a real estate agent who could guide me in right way.

I think that real estate investment opportunities are growing nowadays in almost all major countries. However its better to choose a country that has good economy. In Europe, Germany is a good choice in my own opinion.

I agree Germany has a good, strong economy, but it is linked to the euro.
Additionally the barriers of ownership for a house in Germany are much higher than that in the US.
Each house will cost you more, depending on which currency you currently hold.
Germany is also more densely populated, increasing competition for homes. The appreciation on a home is closely tied to the rate of population growth. Which in the United States, you can find areas which are prepared for much larger growth than Germany.
Don't get me wrong, I think Germany is a great investment. I was there this summer to visit family and looked into the real estate market.Visit my blog on Atlanta Real Estate

I have also read a article that house prices in Germany is continuously increasing but i don't want to invest my money there. I prefer only UK and USA because UK is my home country and i mostly visit USA.

I think USA is definitely a better option! Apart from getting a good price, there are certain other factors that one needs to consider. I think NewYork City is perfect for the investment.
