    This sounds like a positional good - that is, it's only as good as it is exclusive. If someone has this then they get a leg up on everyone else (which makes it valuable). If everyone has it, then they are all working with the same information and therefore no one benefits in particular (except those laggards that don't use it). To answer your question, yes, it would be a very good tool but investment criteria are frequently subjective. Factor that in and you have a winner.
