Property Auction

I'm a real estate student. I'm doing a dissertation for my final year project. I really need opinions on property auctions because I think I would do this topic for my dissertation.
Is it a myth that a property auctions are the place to go for cheap property?
Are auctions the best indicator and way to evaluate the current state of the property market?

Compare property auction with an estate agent, where sale process takes nearly 8 weeks or more to complete. It would be better if you buy and sell at auction instead? Property auctions have more advantages over selling your property through estate agent.

You're right. I agree. Estate Agent is the best method for auction.

It really depends what you mean by "best". If you mean the cheapest, then yes. But there are other considerations than price. I would say "value" is probably better. Considering that most auctions are sight-unseen, you might be buying into something which, despite its price, isn't worth it.

Properties that are usually scheduled for auction are those with tax liens. The delinquent property owner are given redemption period to redeem their property by paying all back taxes, tax liens and penalties. Auctioned property can only be bought through competitive bidding.

I think auctions are a great place to get inexpensive property. Are they good indicators of fair market valuation? No, it's a distressed sale.

Yes property auction is a good place to find discounted houses. You can find a lot of it on the internet lots of houses are sold in this way cause it will sell the house fast.
