Analyzing markets
Hello everyone,
new here and to the world of REI. I'm in the first stage of learning as much as I can, from books, sites, forums - whatever I can get my hands on.
One thing that remains a mystery to me, which I hope you will be able to help me understand, is market analysis. Or more correctly, finding a market.
The methods to analyze a market which has already been identified are clear to me, but my feeling is that by doing so I will encounter a lot of competition. What i not clear to me is how to identify those markets to begin with. There is "too much" information out there, and I lack the tools to interpret that information and start looking more closely at a specific market.
Right now, to train myself, I'm looking at Phoenix AZ as a test case. It seems to me that the activity volume there is so big that it is much a sellers market for the price range I set myself to look into.
Any opinions would be greatly appreciated.

Finding a new market is not the easiest thing to come by and it can take years. I would suggest researching one market and becoming more of an expert in one specific thing rather than finding a completely new market. The only thing with new markets is that you do not have any other experiences to learn from so you may find that you make a huge mistake and end up losing out.
It would be a much better idea to consider exploring a fairly new market which is yet to be saturised and then you can learn from others experiences and become an expert. Start off small and learn everything there is to know about one particular market before moving on to further markets.
