Investing in MD-DC-VA
Hi everyone, I'm new to these forums and at real estate investing. I'm originally from Prince Frederick, MD but I'm living in VA for the time being. I'm going to school at Towson Univ and majoring in finance. I would like to invest in real estate while I'm going there. Now I do have some money to start off with but not hundreds of thousands of dollars. My question is what would be the best investment for me in the MD-DC-VA area or should I wait till I have 100k+ to start investing? I was thinking about trying to invest in pre-foreclosure homes but I wanted to hear from some experts first because I don't want to end up being in debt from screwing up a deal.

Start ASAP
You sound like you are in an ideal situation to begin investing. The way that most people suggest starting is by buying a multi-unit home and living in one unit while renting out the others to cover your mortgage. By being in college you can actually do it easier by buying a home and getting student roomates to help pay the mortgage. I am a Realtor working in an office about 3 miles from Towson U, if you have some interest please let me know and we can meet to discuss more ideas.
