Salesperson Vs. Broker License
With a Real Estate Salesperson license you have to work for a Broker, you cannot sell real estate without having your license hanging with a broker. You also can only do one line of work at a time. Ex. Sell real estate, handle loans, do mortgages. With a Real Estate Brokers license you do not have to hang your license with a broker; you can sell real estate under your own license. You can also do multiple lines of work under a Brokers license. Ex. Sell real estate, handle loans and mortgages.
If you have a Brokers license and are the acting Broker for your office you do have more liability on your hands, versus working for a Broker and the liability falling on them.
Also, in CA you have to meet certain requirements to become a Broker. Some people do not qualify to become a Broker right away. The only requirement you have to get your Salesperson license is you have to be 18 and have your background qualify.
I hope this helped answer your question.
Please feel free to let me know if you have anymore questions, or would like to know what it takes to qualify for a Brokers license.
Thank you,

Generally, the agent has a lesser license than a broker. In some states an agent can have his or her own office, but in most an agent must work under a broker's supervision. Normally, a professional must work several years as an agent before he or she can be considered for a broker's license.

Thanks !!!!!

To me, a broker's license means more control by also more responsibility and liability.
After 2 years in MN you can obtain your broker's license. But I probably won't deal with getting it myself. Too much hassle for the rewards where I am at in my career.Steve Howe - REALTOR - RE/MAX Advantage Plus

Real Estate Broker - A person licensed by his or her particular state to charge a fee for bringing a buyer and a seller together to purchase real estate.

Pre-license? That basically means no license. There are real estate sales licenses and brokers licenses. To be a broker in most states you have to have experience as a sales agent and licensed in that, then you take the broker's exam.

Difference:
Hi,
A real estate agent is usually an independent contractor who provides his or her services to a licensed real estate broker on a contract basis.
In return, the real estate broker pays the salesperson a portion of the commission earned from the agent's sale of the property.
Thanks
