    Default Can you form an LLC in a different state than that in which you reside in?

    I am interested in forming an LLC but do not want to form it in the state of California for tax and start up cost purposes. Can I start an LLC in another state and then operate it from another?
    Further, can I purchase investment properties in other states besides the one that I have a license in?

    Whenever LLC transacts business in a particular state, it must register with that state. This means that it has to pay taxes in that state and file reports, just as if it was actually formed there, so if you are operating a
