Good Books on Real Estate
Hello All,
I'm looking for some books on investing in foreclosures/pre-foreclosures, creative financing, renting property, and general real estate investing - from credible authors and was wondering if anyone could recommend some. There seem to be a lot of books out there, but most appear to be of little value (reviews from Amazon.com).
I recently read books "Creating Wealth" by Robert Allen and "The Real Book of Real Estate" by Robert Kiyosaki and as a newcomer thought they were great until doing some research on their credibility. Found out that Allen went bankrupt and may have done some unethical/illegal financing deals, both seem to make most of their money from seminars that get bad reviews- What do you think of these two books?
Thanks

Well, what are you looking for?? I can't count the myriads of wannabe investors that hear the RE is a great investment and then they realize that RE investing is a bit harder than just collecting checks. It is a business, and like any other business - you need to work at it. Of course when they find that out - many quit - truly sad that many don't feel that a little hard work that could bring around life changing wealth, is worth it.

Now that I am done with my mini-preach, what are you wanting to invest in? Don't try to learn it all - you will just get frustrated as things change all the time and if you don't keep up - you'll never get anywhere, so focus on one aspect of RE investing and do it well.
Once I know where you are and where you want to go and through what means I could be of more help - right now I'd be shooting in the dark.
I initially read "Multiple Streams of Income" by R. Allen (in 1999,) and "Rich Dad/Poor Dad" by R. Kiyosaki in 2000. Both are good books - they got me into RE investing, so I can say that for them.Last edited by REITrainingWhse; 12-18-2009 at 02:21 PM.

What am I looking for? I want to start with pre-foreclosures/short sales and fixer-uppers. As for your myriads of "wannabe" investors- its good to know that investing is more than just collecting checks, because as we know, anything worth doing will be challenging and require much effort.
