New home buyer
I'm new to the home buying process and have probably seen less then a handful of homes since I started this process. There are a few homes that I saw that I actually liked. My question is where (website or organizations) can I go to find specific information on the house? Also if anyone know any good links to find information on researching a home it would be wonderful if you could let me know. Thanks.

That information is going to depend on what part of the country you are in and how much data the local MLS makes available to the public. Another good source of the data you seek is the county GIS website for the county the property of interest is in. If you post your location I may be able to help more by suggesting actual sites for you to go to. The only national sites I know of that you might be able to get this information from are www.propertyshark.com and www.zillow.com Good luck with your search.

Buying a home can be complicated and frightening. You acquire a large debt and assume many new responsibilities. And in the back of your mind is that nagging question,

Hi,
Where are you from? And in which area are you looking to purchase a home?
Well, I would suggest to hire a proper real buyers agent who can help you in every step of the home buying process and will help you to make right decision for you.
I would recommend to visit CharlestonHome.com for more info.
Best of luck!Last edited by sam.thomas; 06-30-2008 at 10:02 PM.

If you are buying a home, you should talk with a real estate agent first. You don't need to pay for the fee since it is included in the sales transaction. An agent can find out more info about the property, its history, etc. Such info may not be available to the public. Licensed agents have access to more multiple listing service info. It pays to have the agent find out more info. Because of the large amount involved in the transaction, having an agent on your side reduces the risk you are taking on.

Tax assessors info
Search your county's tax assessor's page. You can find tons of info on the property by looking at a property's info from tax assessor's office.

Search terms to find info..
Also, search these terms: "Property Assessment Office, your county's name, your state's name." You will often be able to see how the property was transferred, and when, sq. footage, zoning, county's property assessment value, and tons more... Easy search... you can see your neighbor's too!
