    Default Realtors: Lazy or Skeptical?

As a Realtor and Broker, I find the lack of interest by Realtors in using every cost-effective means to market properties disheartening. There are a plethera of opportunities to market homes that are not only cost-effective but many are free. I think we can all agree that the internet is an amazing platform from which we can get the message out about properties we are selling at a fraction of the cost of traditional print marketing efforts that are proving to be less and less effective.

Couldnt agree with you more. I find that most realtors have no clue about the opportunities available online to market their listings and/or themselves. I teach other agents in house how to do this and so far my classes have been standing room only. I have another session this thursday set up for 3 hours.

Half my post was deleted...If you are going to pull part of a post then just pull the whole thing. This makes me sound like Mr. Obvious...ridiculous. I didn't use any foul language and am NOT SELLING anything.
Here's the rest...I believe everyone on this site is grown up enough to decide for themselves whether they want to read on or pursue this option.
--I have offered one such innovative tool at no cost-- equityoutpost (dot com) (dedicated to showcasing motivated listings)--only to have a handful of takers. With 3.7 million in current equity available, we are looking to increase the equity tracker figure, expand territory (currently have Washington, Arizona and Indiana properties) and grow the number of available properties. This is normally $25/month or $250 for the year but I am still offering this for free. Show your clients (sellers) you are really working for them; they don't have to know you got this for free. I am not selling you anything and no financial info is needed. You just have to be willing to spend :30 seconds on registering (type "WN100" in the promo code, name and email are the only required fields) and once your free membership is activated, you have to spend 5 minutes on uploading your motivated sellers listing. This is a Realtor tool and we are starting to get serious hits--there is absolutely NOTHING to lose and everything to gain. Every agent out there should have 5 1/2 minutes to spend on a listing. Remember, this is not just a listing tool...eventually, this will be a site where agents and their buyers can go to find great opportunities without having to sift through the clutter. So help yourselves and help each other...let everyone know you have a deal waiting to be had.

I don't want to sound vindictive so I am going to leave this post up. I do want to clarify however why I deleted half your post.

You claim not to be promoting anything, however you are a new member and you have focused one post to drive traffic to a specific website. As the administrator, my take on that is that you are just a poster promoting your product.

I could have just deleted the whole post, but wanted to give you the benefit of the doubt. If you have not already read the rules of the forum please do so.

Rules of the Forum ***PLEASE READ***

    Happy Posting.

You're right in that I am promoting (not selling) something. As the real estate market has taken such a dramatic turn it is time that our marketing efforts keep up with the changes. As in any field, success in real estate demands that we as agents and brokers keep up with the needs of our clients. So when the revenue begins to wain, other, less costly means of marketing are crucial to our survival. My main objective is to let agents and brokers know that there are options (such as the one I have offered) for them to take advantage of in this crucial period. I am not here marketing fee-based services; which is why I feel this is more appropriate than not. As a forum and by definition, a community, we are here to help each other and I am here to help agents promote their motivated listings. In the long run, I hope this helps my cause of course, but absolutely not at the expense of others. I think promotion should be okay if the benefit is not entirely for the promotor. If there are goods or services that work to enhance other members' success, there should be a place to discuss that...if not in Pro Talk then perhaps a different group dedicated to this topic. I do thank you for leaving this up and ask that you just take a look at the site and if you think there is something you feel would be detrimental to the members of the forum, please let me know. Take care, Mark

The only reason you are not selling something is because no one wants to buy it so you try giving it away for a limited time. You interpret your lack of sales as us being lazy. If I was moderating this I would not have been so polite. Call me skeptical.

Being skeptical is good--it leads to understanding; as the Irish philosopher George Berkeley said, "The same principles which at first view lead to skepticism, pursued to a certain point, bring men back to common sense." However, the problem as stated by Elliot Richardson is, "People have moved beyond apathy, beyond skepticism into deep cynicism." When we believe in nothing, we become unwilling to try anything. Be skeptical of those asking for personal information, financial information or to agree to terms you don't understand. If someone offers you something you need with no strings ask the questions you need to remove doubt and then embrace it. To be clear, there is not a lack of sales as there is NOTHING being sold. This is simply an opportunity, particularily in areas hit hardest by the over-saturated market, to market their listings with qualified equity on a focused platform. A free one year membership with no obligation to continue thereafter...if it works, great; if not, at least you tried and it didn't cost you a penny. That's all.
