Your expert opinion please...
At the end of the day, how much of your business is based on your own abilities v/s the company you are affiliated with?
My opinion...
75% on my own abilities 25% based on my company name/brand
We all know that our own abilities will always be key. Beyond that, do you think your company name secures more business for you?
Your thoughts?

Good question in changing world
Referrals are huge in the areas of NC I have been, so from that standpoint, the part the individual plays is larger. It probably depends
on where you are located. It some places, like the Outer banks, I can
see a lot of business coming from the internet. In fact, about 10 years
ago, I was the first internet customer of my now friend and broker there.
I was looking online from Greensboro, NC. So, the traffic could come from
a good agent's website or a company site. Therefore, I believe the playing
field may have leveled somewhat.

Nothing. When I left Century21 for myself, I was afraid about leaving a name behind me. Without the franchise, I doubled my income!!!

Do you feel that C21 (or any brand name office) did you more harm than good or did you make a fundamental change in your business? Why do you feel that your business changed that strongly?

I didn't lose any client because of the change but I had 100% split plan instead of 50% !!!

I am sure that you wouldn't loose a client but do you feel that you could attract more clients with a strong brand behind you combined with your own strong efforts?
As stated above, there will always be a wide variety of results but if we get enough input, there may be some trends that develop.
Thank you for the input!!

I understand what you say, and the answer is no. Basically, I'm saying to my soon to be sellers: "Shop around for RE agent, then call me back. I guarantee to do better than any other agent out there and I can prove it. Tell me what (s)he gets and do better. Guarantee. They offer you 5 virtual tours for your property? I'll do 10. Bottom line, I'll do more AND I GUARANTEE IT."
I discuss the name behind if the seller ask for it and I have a very good answer for that matter...

Imagine yourself as a consumer. Would you rather do business with someone who works for a reputable company that is average at what they do, or an independent person who is more knowledgable and likeable? Some principals will look for real estate agents within a larger company because of the name recognition, but if you are willing to prospect and meet your own clients, your experience, skills, and personality should exceed the importance of the company you work for...
