Default Giving friends/family your MLS userid and password

I'm wondering if any of the realtors on here have given their MLS userid and password to a friend or family member. If so, why? If not, why not? I'd like to get feedback whether you have or haven't. Thanks.

Some mls systems can track the ip address of the users. They do this to see if you are using the system the same time as someone else. If you are using it at 2 different locations at the same time then they can impose whatever penalties they have established on you.

If you are sharing it, please don't. There's probably a good reason why they provide us with a single user only userid and password. I've tried giving my passes to a relative once because I asked him to check something for me. I forgot that it's still logged on to my computer at home. My account got temporarily banned and had to ask for a password again.

Absolutely not. The MLS database contains other realtor information etc... that is not meant to be public. Like any site with restricted access, there obvious and perhaps some not so obvious reasons for the restrictions (business policy etc..). Play by the rules and you will not have your access denied or license compromised.

I haven't and will never give my MLS information to anyone. If they do anything illegal on the MLS, that is your license. It just isn't worth risking your career and having fines by giving your information to a friend or family member. If they want access to the MLS tell them to get their licenses. There's plenty of public MLS access.
