Default How to become an agent?

    Hey everyone

I am interested in possibly becoming an agent (part time) for the moment. I ended up getting bit by the bug when I was looking for my first home.

Anyone have suggestions on how the process is generally done?

Also do you have to work for a company such as Remax or can you work as a freelancer?

you can work for any company you like. Advantages of working for smaller brokerage are one on one training, they usually provide leads which helps you focus on learning the basics while building up your own biz plan in the background.

What state are you thinking of obtaining license?

    Default Become agent

First, you need to work in some company to learn basics.

You must know the basics otherwise you are done before you have even started.

If you really want to be successful in this field you must have a license broker, I haven't encountered a person who had been successful as a part-timer. If you really want it you must put an effort for it.

I would make sure your motivations are strong. It will take time and money to get licensed. If the reward isn't worth the risk, don't do it.

And you shouldn't plan on staying part time for more than 6 months. Maybe to get the call rolling and keep some cash flow coming in. But after that, cut the cord and go for it full time--that's the only way you can really win in this business.

You do have to take a class and pass a test. That process allows you to get your license. The real estate salesperson's license is just like many other professional licenses in that if you don't then go do something with it, there is no money for the effort.
