SEM- Great Idea!
SEM is absolutely necessary in today's world. We've hired an outside consulting firm to not only redo our entire site, but also create PPC campaigns and link building to increase our exposure and contact sites on our behalf for listings. We've increased our page rank, which guarantees that users will find us in a sea of realtors in Atlanta.

It is rather obvious that your self promotion lacked creativity and research. For the record, PPC and SEM are 2 different things, one is not a sub of the other.
