Default Are you all mainly brokers or agents, or...?

Hi all, forgive my ignorance but I'm a new kid here.

I was just wondering, I see so many of you talking about marketing your business, listings, services etc...but how many of you are brokers vs agents?

    Regards,

    Nick

    Default Real estate agents

Thanks for your post, and welcome to this forum. You will find a mix of real estate agents and real estate brokers here.

As for me, I am an agent up here in the Minneapolis real estate market. We have a team of 30 plus agents that work all through the Minnesota real estate market.

Ah ok, thanks for that. That's what I presumed! So, as an agent, what kind of say do have in how you sell property? I mean, do you get free reins on the marketing material and techniques, or do you have to follow strict guidelines?

It depends on your definition of "free rein". For the most part, you can do whatever you want - provided it complies with licensing requirements and doesn't violate ethical or protected class standards.

By most persons perspectives, you have a pretty broad leeway.

What types of things did you have in mind specifically? That would perhaps help provide a clearer understanding as to what you mean.

Great, that's interesting to know. I didn't have specifics in mind, just wanted to get an idea of how restrictive or open brokers are with their agents...from generating leads, producing marketing material offline/online etc. I guess it will always vary from business to business, but still interesting to know.

The reason I ask is because I understand that there are many agents out there that are kind force fed old fashioned ways of marketing that plain don't work anymore, when if they had access to new ways to skin the proverbial cat, then their lives would be a whole lot more "greener" should I say...

I am a Broker/owner/office manager in Galveston Texas... We run real estate and vacation rentals. Our agents are good at doing their own thing. However, we also make suggestions, give free leads, and show them what we have done before in the same situation. We have monthly office meetings where we share ideas/thoughts/marketing tactics that worked for us...
