    Default Bankrupt and being a real estate agent?

    Hi everyone!! Can you be a real estate agent if you are in bankruptcy and if you are already an agent will you lose your liscense if you go bankrupt?

    This will depend on your state's laws, but in general I would say no. I have never seen or heard of anyone losing their license because of BK.

    i dont think that is the case in california, if so, there wont be many agents left.

    SellMyDigs, that is pretty funny stuff. I know that business has gotten real tough in most markets forcing many agent's into BK. I don't think however that being in BK would cause you to forfiet your license.

    Codythebest, you speak on behalf of all licensed agent's? You must be a person of importance, not even the Real Estate commissioner can make that claim.

    I know many agents in michigan who have gone bankrupt yet are still "Attempting" to be agents.

    Bankruptcy and being a realtor don't fit like a hand in glove or maybe they do. LOL

    I believe that it is only Mortgage in soem states and SEC licensed stuff where that would be an issue. Will not keep you from your RE License in Washington State.
