    Default Are referrals important?

[LEFT]I'm considering joining a business referral networking group such as my local chamber of commerce to grow my business. Has anyone had much success doing this? Also, has anyone used referralkey.com for generating referrals? I

    Default Sure they are

I use Referral Key and I love it! It has helped me generate a ton of new sales from my business network. Unlike the chambers of commerce and BNI, it does not require a big commitment of time. I think they have a free sign up. Good luck!

You are unlikely to get a response.

    Its spammy as can be.

Someone with 1 post shows up - and asks an obvious question.

And someone else with 1 post shows up - with just the exact company/product/website that has all the answers they were looking for.

    Default Referrals

I am not familiar with referalkey, but I can tell you that if you join Chamber, BNI, etc. that you need to give them time and use them as a resource to connect with people. I have used both networking groups and Chambers as a way to start a conversation with someone and then follow up with a one-one meeting with them to talk about how I can assist them in their business venture.

    Hope that helps

Any successful agent will have a network from which they receive business. To find prospects you can use farming, open houses, on-line marketing, ect. But the best way to grow your business is to have a source of referral business. It takes a lot of time to generate business through networking, but it you make the committment it can really pay off.

Chambers of Commerce can be good, but get involved in more than just their meet-and-greets or business card exchanges. Get involved in a committee and get to know the major players.

If you have kids get involved in their schools by volunteering. Another idea is to find a local charity that you believe in and get involved there.

Keep in mind that if you volunteer for anything it must be something that you really believe in or are truly committed to. If you volunteer just to generate referrals you will come off as insincere.
