    Default Law Degree

I'd like to go into real estate. But I'd first like to go to law school and earn a law degree in tax law and real estate law. Will a law degree help me in real estate... at all?

    Thanks.

    Default law degree

Well first of all if you want to get into real estate investing a law degree is a bit of an overkill. Now if you enjoy school and want to study law and want to be a lawyer then by all means, but just remember the more qualified you are the more accountable you are for your actions, and if ever in court being sued by your tenant, the judge is going to look at the tenant as the victim and you as the educated professional.

    Talking back up claim

well that depends, do want to sue everyone, or do you want to buy a property with equity rent/flip for profits? spending at least 40k and up on a law degree? I would retain an attorney that specializes in real estate, and focus on my investments, being a specialist at what I do, and let the attorney specialize at what he does, if it were me personally. I am not saying dont get your law degree, but to get a law degree to get into what I believe the poster wants to do which is either invest/broker is uneccesary. The poster didnt say should I get a law degree to become an attorney. The poster said to get into real estate.
