Full-time or Part-time?
For the new realtors, are you starting out in real estate part-time or jumping into it full-time? what is your current set up (are you w/ an agency/broker)?
For the experienced realtors, do you recommend full-time or part-time for those getting started? why?
thank you

There is quite a mix of full time/part time scenarios out there. Some offices do not accept part time agents. Although you might claim real estate as part time,it is a full time job.

I was wondering what your other job would be if you do real estate part time?

I know a couple younger agents that are bartenders at night. I know an agent who also dental assistant. You can do almost anything if you manage your time correctly.

i guess i hadn't gotten so far as to consider what my other job would be. real estate would probably clash with my current full-time job b/c i work in an office and our hours aren't flexible. i'm more thinking that i would leave and do real estate full time, but its just kind of scary considering that the money won't be there right away.

A part time job is not a bad idea when first getting started. Just make sure that it you still have the energy required to do your full time job Real Estate! Working in real estate is much like owning your own business. You need to stay focused and be self motivated.

Ditto for me. MOST (not all) of the part timers are more of an obstacle than a help in getting a deal done - because they lack the familiarity with forms, protocol, standards/practices in the particular locale, etc, etc.
As soon as I see that they are a part time agent, I let out a big sigh - because I know its going to be a whole lot more work for me educating the other agent on how to do their job.

I don't really think you can do it part time. But I think you can do your regular full time job and still do real estate full time as well. We have a greater flexibility than most any other job. A lot of things can happen late at night and early in the morning while balancing your full time job.
Don't be afraid to try it.
