I am a very new ink still wet licensee. I live in a smallish town within Hampton Roads VA. I have talked with 4 realty companies and keep coming back to my local RE/MAX. Their fees are higher than the others @ $1500 month. The comission split is better 95/5 as opposed to 50/50 with the others. The broker has been in real estate for 28yrs, she bought her RE/MAX franchise 7yrs ago and her company does well in the area, she works on referrals only at this point and has several listings at a time. Anyway, currently she has 8 agents none of which are new. She has offered to put a desk in her office and allow me to work in there to cut my desk fees until I am making some money. She will be my mentor and take me on all her client calls and closings while teaching me all she can. I will likely make nothing for several months and will be pushing into my savings to be able to work this way for a while. My question is: If this were presented to you as a new agent, is this the way you would go?
