    Default Sphere of Infleunce

Just curious: what is considered a solid number for a sphere of infleunce?

I began to compile a list of friends and people I would send my card and literature to. I was a part of a church for awhile and know quite a few people from attendance there. I have 115 entries in my initial list. Many of these are couples, not just individuals (but I am counting them as 1). Probably 90 off this list are people or couples I know well and some more distance aquaintances mixed in. Is that a good start? What # of people in my sphere would be considered good? How many am I shooting for? Thanks for any insight.

If they are "close" friends then this is a respectable number to start with. Try to find a reason to start a contact program with them where you personally speak with them on a regular basis. If they are your close friends, they will want to see you become successful and they will want to help. The day to day challenges can cause them to forget what you do. Find a way to ask them, "Who do you know who may be interested in making a real estate change?" That way you are not asking them about their own situation.

When I started in the biz, I was trained that everyone has a SOI of at least 250, sounds like you are pretty close to that, you just have to reach each of the 250 that they know...

250 is a very high number for me to attain, is that only in your county? Should I include neighboring counties?

I tell you what, getting ahold of all these people I haven't talked to in years and attaining their addresses is a pain in the rear good thing I like hard work!

I'd really only count those in the market you are serving. That may include parts of more than one county. Unless they are a close aquantance or may be moving back to the area, it's probably not worth contacting them. Don't forget any groups or organizations you belong to.

250 may be a lot for some people (and some markets).

I think it depends on what type of circles you run in. I belonged to an area church for the past 7 years, so I have probably 75 really solid contacts there (I didn't just count everybody). I also went to a small college that is only about 20 minutes from where I live. So, when I went back and looked through an old alumni contact book, I realized that there were many people I went to school with living in my target zone. After checking that alumni book my SOI went from 115 to about 185. I also worked for my school's admissions department for two years. There are many people who I worked with in that capacity who have graduated school in the past 3 years, these people are probably an asset because they will be buying a house in the next few years.

So, that is how mine has grown.
