    Default Real Estate Classes

    Cheers,

I'm not yet a real estate agent, so please be kind to me...

I am looking to start taking Real Estate classes in Maryland. I was wondering if anyone could recommend a realtor to go through, or if you think it would be best to go independently. I know there are pros and cons to both directions, but I don't know which would be best for me. I have wanted to do this for some time now, but I'm really going to do it this time.

Any other resources would be appreciated as well. Thanks for your time, and I hope I don't get flamed too badly for posting here without being an agent yet.

    Hi,

    Welcome to the forum.
To be honest, I didn't get the "recommend a Realtor to go through".
Did you mean a Brokerage to go with?

    No, I'm in TN.
The best brokerage for you as a new agent is the one that offers training.
    For a new agent, it's not location-location-location. It's training-training-training
Make sure you have financial reserve for the next 6 months also...

Thanks Cody. My question is really more about deciding whether to take the class through a broker-sponsored class, or to take the class at a community college or something of that nature, where I am not obligated to any particular brokerage. Does anyone have any experience with that ?

I don't think taking the class means you are obligated to sign with any particular broker.
My instructor worked also as a business broker for Coldwell and at the end of the class we had Coldwell people coming in answering questions "real life real estate agent" questions we had. We weren't required to stay through the presentation. They encouraged everyone to go interview with many different brokers and firms before deciding on anything.
    Yes, I went with Coldwell.
