Brokers call you after exam?
hi, I'm new to these boards. I took my 45 hour pre-licensing course and I'm taking my state exam on the 20th of this month. I read somewhere on these boards that brokers will be calling after you take the state exam test. Is this true? Do they get a list of everyone who takes and passes the test? I assumed I would have to search on my own for a broker to sponser me.

Post License calls
I doubt you will get any calls, but you never know. Our firm just told 120 agents to have a nice day for lack of production or effort.
Brokers are concentrating their efforts on producers that keep the lights on at the firm.
You should be interviewing brokers now and previous to now. Every broker regardless of the company do things differently and compensation can vary depending on services provided.
Since you are new, training is the most important part of your brokerage relationship. I am affiliated with Florida's most successful EXIT Agency and the training is never ending (Guess that is why it is so successful). You could literally spend 5 days a week for 3 months and not be done with all the different training opportunities.
Not trying to advocate any particular agency, but you have to see what meets YOUR needs.
I wish you great success!

You will probably get a bunch of mailings, but doesn't mean they are from the right companies.
Craig's right - it's all about the training.
I'm always plugging coldwell for training, but Exit seems to have a pretty good reputation in FL and give more flexibility to their agents
However, again this can come down to the individual office & broker aswell.

you will most likely get some calls and some mailings. Training is key when you are new like everyone else has stated. You might see what they have for ongoing training, what kind of atmosphere the office has, the reputation in the community, what kind of marketing they are currently doing or will be doing to market the company and what kind of marketing tools they have that might help you out.
Interview a few different companies and talk to some of the brokers at each company and ask them what they like and dislike about their company. If they can't name a dislike I doubt I would believe them. I love my company but there are things I don't like as well.

And remember it is not all about the commission split - sometimes the split is lower but there will be no desk fee or they help with costs.... I took a lower split but I pay for little to nothing to run my business... it more than makes up for it.
