Paying for Lead Generation?
Has anyone purchased lead generation from the internet and found it to be profitable?

Internet Lead Sources
Almost anything, if worked long enough and hard enough, can produce some result. However, it's highly doubtful that any lead referral system out there that is productive will cost less than one can spend on his own web site and pay per click marketing done properly.
Highly effective and proven results can be obtained for less than $40 per month with a web site that also supports drip email campaigns. Supplement that with properly executed pay per click marketing until your site has decent search engine position. Your long term results will be far superior than paying for leads elsewhere.Jim Kimmons

in all honesty Jim is right. You're better off spending your money elsewhere. Purchasing internet leads is really a waste of your time. It'll take you more hours to convince these people than if you did alternative means to get traffic to you and those people will be easier to work with.

AGREED
Internet leads were incredible a few years back, the returns were awesome...but I haven't seen a decent internet lead if years - truly a waste of money
that is unless you have an expert team and 10s of thousands to throw at it.
I remember talking to one lead guy a year ago and he said he had sold the same list 7 times that week!!! = trash

Thank you very much for the posts. Real Estate is definitely a unique business. I am glad there are support systems like this to share knowledge.

I'm just stating out in Real Estate and I purchased leads from a couple of websites, just try it. No real leads. It was a waste of money. I wouldn't recommend trying it, but that's up to you to decide.

In my first year in the business I spent a good bit of money on leads and experimented with different providers.
I got a few sales out of it but I spent a huge amount of time chasing really bad leads.
I've researched a lot of the companies that sell these leads. Most of them sell the same leads to multiple agents. They say that the leads are screened but most of the time they aren't. Also, most of them want to lock you into a contract of 6 months or more and most have "set-up" fees of several hundred dollars.Last edited by Patrick Mc; 01-25-2007 at 12:06 PM.
