Best Real Estate Book?

Hello, I would like to learn more about real estate as I am thinking about getting into it...slowly at first and then see how it is. I would like to ask for a book or a couple for x-mas. What is the best book out there, what are some books I have to read? What are the most helpful? Thanks.

Well, of course, there's my book... Sell with Soul, The New Agent's Guide to an Extraordinary Career in Real Estate, but it's not published yet and probably won't be in time for Christmas

. It is in ebook form now, however at www.sellwithsoul.com .

I liked The Idiot's Guide to Success as a Real Estate Agent, and the Consultative Real Estate Agent (or something like that). The other books I've read are far too "Old School" for me - too much emphasis on hard-core prospecting and not enough emphasis on providing good service.

I mentor new agents just getting started, so if you have any questions about what to expect the first few months of your career, please ask!

When looking for referrals on books I usually like to go to the big book websites (amazon and borders). Usually any book of any substance will have non-biased reviews of them so you can get some insight into what the book offers by those who have already read them.

I liked "Up & Running in 30 Days" by Carla Cross. Also by Carla - "The Real Estate Agent's Business Planning Guide." Order at Amazon.com and usually if you buy both books you'll get free shipping. Both are good books for business planning. I've read several other good books but these two are a good place for a new agent to start.

My recommendation is don't get into this business and start slow. Get in with all the energy you have and make the best of it. When people tell me they are just "starting out slow" it sounds to me like they are excusing failure in advance.

since Im quite the newbe myself, I went for the 'beginner's guides'... although those might be a bit broad, but i guess that's good since you've not decided yet if it's for you.

It's typical all books are mainly focused on the US Market... Or is that me?

Learning from a book ?

The best way to learn is from experienced agents, get yourself out there and learn from experience not a book - waste of money.
