    Default RE agent incarcerated...need recommendations.

I have a friend who was in prison for a number of years for assault, and was recently released (I'm not sure if she's on parole). Before prison, she was a real estate agent in Texas, and wants to get back into it. I'm not familiar with real estate, so I suppose the questions are:

How does a conviction affect her status as a real estate agent? Are there any authorities she should speak with about getting back into real estate? Does she need to "recertify" for anything?

    Thanks.

Her best bet is to contact TREC.. The Texas Real Estate Commission, and they can advise her.

Assault(depending on the degree) is not necessarily a deterrent in getting prospective clients in the real estate market, hey there are those with far worse track records in this profession. However, this better be a one-time occurrence. Having more than one record with the police or other law enforcement entity might put you on the radar of the people in the area where you are working. Records like these are easily accessible to the internet.
