In most countries, buying a piece of property entails a fair amount of paperwork. In the U.S., because of our sophisticated legal system, this is very true.

When doing anything that you're not familiar with, including handling transactions in a new market, make sure to seek advice from professionals. When seeking that advice, make sure you get it from more than one source. Be as skeptical as you are open and you'll make it work.

Buying real estate is kind of like fixing your car in the sense that it's something you shouldn't eve consider unless you know what you're doing.

Default Guide to Buying Real Estate Property

A good real estate agent will have a team working with them to be sure of a smooth transaction, including an attorney, closing agent, mortgage banker or lender. They all work together to uncomplicate the process and complete or close a legal transaction.

Nowadays the hallmark of a good real estate agent is being flexible to the needs of his or her customers and being honest where it is due. A friend of mine, whose also a realtor, once told me that the first thing you always ask your clients when they look you up to buy a property is "How long do you intend to stay?". This is the basis for how any real estate agent should handle any transaction. She never recommended a full size house with a long term mortgage to anyone who is unsure of how long they would be occupying that house. She might not have the highest quota of houses sold, But she has the stellar record of the least number of clients who are having problems selling off their houses because they have to move to another place.
