"The client is always right." - True in real estate?
Let's say a buyer client is making demands on you or a seller that are out of line with the generally well established process of buying a home. Demands regarding the stages of what happens when, why things happen the way they do, likely responses from a seller or listing agent, the lending process, etc, anything.
What do you do/say when your buyer client insists that the "client is always right," and "[they are] the client." - When in fact the client is not right at all.
I'm keepiong this question rather vague because I'm interested in broad responses, to this attitude from buyers before bringing up details if necessary.

No one is always right, whether client, agent etc.
The client should understand that part of their agent's job is to provide expertise on real estate, including the most effective methods and the generally established method of a real estate transaction in that particular area.

I agree here, that the client is always right, particularly in a real estate business. Because, if the client is wrong, then they should not be the client any longer.

In the experience about which this post is referring to, once I realized this client was unmanageable and would not listen to me at all, and was making unreasonable, stubborn demands, I terminated the relationship. I will not kiss anyone's *** for the sake of a paycheck.
But, even with a brain between my ears, I'm also a newbie trying to figure things out, and calling it like I see it. I just wasn't sure what was the etiquette, when to show your own impatience, when to smooth things over, when to walk away.

read this article and especially the comments to see how sometimes getting a client to understand what is reasonable can be difficult.
I especially enjoyed the comments about referring problems to your competition.

I agree that the "client is always right" in the real estate business...however this fact also stands "I am never wrong" ...you willl see most top agents blame their assistants, etc even if it is their screw up....if you put fault directly on yourself you look like a fool infront of your clients...of course make it a smooth story and not a blame game lol

It depends upon the situation. Although in most instances they are considered to be right, one must remember that building relationships with a prospective client would also entail giving some advices or some views on a particular concern to prove their concepts partially wrong and feeding it with yours which may appear to be partially correct to the client. Here, the broker must protect his interests as well as that of his client.

Sometimes you just have to fire a client to save your own integrity. You'll find another one.

If I'm not wrong I think client is always right in any business. It is not in just real estate that we people face it. Calm mind helps to solve any such problem we face it. I remember many such incidents in my career and clam mind is only solutions I continue and get a good solutions.
