STOP Calling Me
Okay so I am a new Realtor as of 2 weeks now and I passed the state exam probably about a 2 and a half ago. Anyways yesterday I was just getting home from work probably about 5:30 in the afternoon and I get a call on my home phone, Im so and so from such and such realty and I see you just passed your real estate exam. I went on to tell him that I had and that I was currently working with a broker, however he persisted to tell me all about his company and how they are looking for new talent blah blah blah. Anyways long stort short, I find this to be very annoying as the reason I am on the Do-Not-Call list and I am curious as to how these brokers know that I recently passed the exam and that they have all of my information. is there somewhere I can remove my name from or block others from viewing this information?? Believe it or not I am still getting things in the mail left and right from different brokers and I passed the test almost 3 months ago!! I know this may seem like a stupid question but come on its annoying. Any feedback is appreciated. Thanks!

as a Loan Officer I have the same thing happen. I've been recruited by at least 6 different companies trying to get me to leave my current employer. They try to tell me how great things are over at their office and how I should change. "If it isn't broken don't fix it" I enjoy where I work and I make great money so there is no need to change.
As for your case, you'll just have to deal with it. I believe since you've passed your test you are on some list now of approved brokers...I'm not 100% sure about that but I know my name is on a list since I'm an LO. Also, someone might have mentioned your name to them and that they thought you were a good person so then they try to call you and recruit you. Just tell them no thanks and take it as a compliment. I just tell people "Thank you and I appreciate the offer as its flattering that you want to add me to your company but I'm happy where I am currently at and don't intend to change my employment for a very long time."
It works, most people just tell me thank you for your time and I hope I haven't bothered you.
So in summary? Just roll with it and tell them no thanks.

Endless phone calls
I did work for an organization (IT real estate consulting) that endlessly called agents to try to recruit them. They said it "gets worse once you're even more successful". Crazy.

I can completely relate - it's soooo frustrating - I dealt with the same thing about 5 months ago - it gets better.

I've been in real estate for two years now,and I am constantly getting phone calls and emails from competing brokers trying to recruit me. They keep calling on my cell phone even when I ask them not to call anymore.

Give it time. You'l get the solicitations. Even six months after I passed the exam I was getting letters from brokers congratulationg me on passing the exam.

for the new guy
I think its wise to start with a big name broker, like a Coldwell Banker, EWM, etc... There training is great for beginners.

If I were new I would look for a company with a good training program. Large brokers often offer an advantage to new agents with superior training. They also typically have better mentorship programs, better marketing materials, more marketing dollars to spend, and more resources for agents.

Also look at your commission splits, franchise fees, desk fees, advertising fees, etc. Where does your commission split start and what do you have to do to get to the next level? How much will it cost you to do business in that office?
I hope this helps.Patrick Mc
