Diving head first into RE Sales
Glad I found this forum - as I have many questions about getting into RE.
I've been around sales my entire life, and I am finishing up my degree in Entrepreneurship Management at a business school in Texas. I've lived in Texas my entire life, in a major city. I've networked and met plenty of people while I'm here.
It dawned on me a few years back that RE was what I think I could do best. I believe I have the people skills, the personality, and the art of the sale. I've taken some classes at the university that will go toward me getting my RE license, but have not completed my RE license yet - here is where my questions start.
1. When should I complete my RE license / test? I know it cost $$$ to renew / continue your education so I figured it would be best to complete once I graduate.
2. Is there any job I can work in the RE field / industry that will help further my future career? I'm a firm believer in experience, and I virtually have none in RE.
3. Upon my graduation, should I expect a stead salary - or be sitting months without a paycheck? Should I expect to have a second job?
4. How did you go about getting with the firm you are at? My dream career is working as a commercial real estate developer - but I figured that I would have to start out in residential and gain some experience.
Thanks for your input

Where to start
I don't know that you have to start out in residential .... If your dream is commercial development, then I recommend starting out in commercial real estate.
You can go straight into a sales team under a mentor, or can seek an admin job closely aligned to a commercial sales team so that you learn the nitty gritty from the inside out.
If you want to invest/develop commercial sites eventually, then there's a lot to learn about valuation and value adding in the commercial sector.
It's a really exciting field so good luck!
