Hi my name is Matt, I'm 27 and I'm interested in becoming a Real Estate Agent.

I'll start off by giving a little background on my current situation. I have the perfect schedule right now to make a run at a commission only career. I have been doing so as an independent insurance agent for 6 months now. I also own a pooper scooper business (ridiculous I know) that I work 1 1/2 days a week, going around to peoples homes and picking up where their dogs left off, and I deliver chinese food for 4 hrs - 3 nights a week, all in the sake of "getting by" and fortunately for me the pooper scooper side of it as been fairly good to me surprisingly.

I love many aspects of being an Independent Insurance Agent. The fact that I make my own schedule, call my own shots, and help people and businesses enhance what they currently offer or provide them with solutions they don't currently have. What I don't like is all the cold calling (I go business to business) just like the other 1000+ agents in my area. It's hard to convince a business owner to even let you through the door and that you have something better to offer when that's all they hear everyday of their working life. Yet I still go out everyday beating this same bush. I have been fairly successful to this point but can already see this profession getting old quickly from the combination of whats listed above plus my lack of passion for insurance in general.

Now to Real Estate. I along with my new wife just purchased our first home and I absolutely loved the process. I realize it was "our" home and that has something to do with me loving it but I truly love the idea of helping people buy and/or sell homes and want to know how it compares or doesn't compare to the world of insurance sales. I find myself watching the sales shows on HGTV everytime I get a spare hour or two and look at real estate constantly online. Again I realize this is the glamorous world of real estate and not all the hard work that goes into it but I'm just making the point that Real Estate truly fascinates me more then any other profession.

Is finding buyers or sellers as difficult/repetitive as going door to door for ins? I also realize there is a ton to learn before I make any decisions but I wanted to start with this tid bit on my life and hear from some seasoned agents.

Thanks in advance for any advice or insight!
