Default What should a new licensee ask a broker?

I am currently in a pre-licensing class, and will get my license (hopefully!) in Sept.

I plan on contacting and meeting with some brokers in the next couple weeks, so I can decide who I'd like to associate with as soon as possible. I want to put my license to work right away! Could anyone recommend some questions to ask them that would be helpful? I'm sure there are some I wouldn't think of before its too late, and I want to make sure I make an informed decision.

I appreciate any help/advice you all could give!

    Default Advice

I would just want to know what the commission split would be, if an office is provide along with any training or mentoring. Also if there is a lead system set up for you to get leads.

As a new agent you need to be looking for the best training you can get. Too many new agents go with a company with the best commission splits and end up with no training or supervision and consequently end up leaving the business because they never learned how to make a living selling real estate.

    Thank you for the responses!

I work full time in another field, so I definitely want to focus more on training than the money right now. I'm being realistic that will take years to establish myself, so the money isn't going to be rolling in right away anyway. It's more important to know what I'm doing!!

Some of the agents I've talked to have said that I have to be careful with the training programs. A lot of the "mentors" won't really act as "mentors", they'll just put you to work and collect part of your commission, without really teaching you. Do you find this common, or will most mentors really be a mentor?
