    Default Finding a mentor ?

Any suggestions about finding a mentor? I see mentor sites on the web but they look scetchy. I live in a small alaskan town and a starter home is 230,000 so can a mentor help me invest elswhere? Will I learn just as much throught personal research? Any input is great.I am confused about the significance of a mentor.

    Thanks

The easiest way to find a mentor is to join an investment club. We have a few here in Arizona like AZREIA and PREI. You will definitely find a mentor there. Be sure you feel very comfortable with whomever you end up working with. Don't pay serious cash to join anything. Nouveau Riche and some other "schools" just aren't worth it. I would rather lose $15000 and learn from it than pay somebody $15000 for something you can learn in a book.

I probably don't understand how mentoring works in real estate. Will a real estate mentor actually coach you AND partner with you in some investments to help you get started? Is this what you're looking for?

The link in my signature will take you to a new educational product from Charrissa Cawley that is set to launch this week. Now, I know she does personal coaching as well, but I'm not sure if that's the same as mentoring. I can send you a link to her personal coaching service if that's what you're after.

As for finding a Mentor, be carful I would sugest that you work toward investing localy in Alaska. You need to figure out which type of proeprty investing that you want to do. This may be the pivital question that you want to ask a mentor. I really feel that you need to figure out what kind of investing you want to do (read as many books as you can) then persue some experts in that field and surround yourself with the right people to support you with what you need to make successful investments.

I'm sure you can find a mentor in your area. You can start from there. Also, you can study and read about real estate on your own. This way, when you find a mentor, you'll have enough knowledge about the business and you'll be able to know what to ask and expect.
