Commission PROBLEM!!! NO written agreement help please!!
Ok my poor old uncle is a real estate agent who just had a closing on a home a week ago. Problem is that the buyer of the house promised him AGAIN and AGAIN that she would give him 3,000 dollars extra not including commission. Now at the closing this evil lady told him plainly I am not paying you goodbye and left. He received regular commission but not the extra the lady Promised him she would pay him. First she said she would pay him before the closing, then she said after, and finally at the actual closing she bascially said screw you im not paying you. There is no written agreement, is there anything uncle can do? he is very depressed about this whole mess, he bascially got cheated what you guys think?

I think your uncle needs to learn one of the basic fundamentals of selling real estate, which is "get it in writing."
If he let himself get screwed by not following procedure how effective is his representation of his clients?Your Outer Banks real estate agent. Learn how to buy Outer Banks foreclosures.

Not only did he make the mistake of not getting it in writing, what was the extra money for? Why wasn't it on the HUD1?

There is nothing your uncle can do. As the others say, you have to get it in writing.
No "yeah...but's" in Real Estate. I'm only 8 months into the business, and I even know this!!

Everything in real estate has to be in writing. A lot of agents try to jerk you around saying you don't need it, but you do. Your uncle has probably learned a very valuable lesson however that while it cost him 3000 will help him protect himself in the future.

it happens in real estate business. there is every kind of client in real estate but the Realtor should do every thing in black in white form.

I do not quite agree with you all. Sometimes there is a small arrangement for bonuses which are hidden and can't be agreed in written forms, so you just have to rely on people's honesty... at least here is like that

That is too bad he lost out on $3,000 but like everyone else said, think of it as a cost of learning. Everything bad that has happened in my life has ultimatley been a very valuable learning experience for me. Of course at the time no one sees that, but a bit down the road you will. I was ripped off for $500 from an old roommate in college and there wasn't anything I could do about it. At the time I was so furious all I could think about was getting even. But now looking back, it was one of the best learning experiences to ever happen to me.
In a year your uncle will be able to look back on this and laugh, and also he will have learned a valuable lesson I am sure.Steps Marketing, Inc.
