Real Estate and Technology (for beginners)
I am new to real estate, hope to get my license by the end of the year.
I currently have a cheep (freebie) mobile phone (my only phone line) and a PDA that I used at my previous job. Is it worth it to get a Blackberry or iPhone or something similar to help with my success?

While a blackberry or smart phone will definitely allow you to do more, I personally wouldn't jump the gun and buy one right away. Before spending any money, ask yourself what you would need access to everywhere you go. If you feel you need more than what you have, then by all means buy something. But, if your cell phone and PDA will take care of all your current needs, then you might as well save your money.

I have to agree on this one. Always remember, it's not about the equipment it's how you use it. An expensive phone is not going to make you money, it's all in how you market yourself.

I agree also. I went a little crazy buying "upgrades" when I first got my license, only to realize that I should have held on to that extra money! I personally suggest taking the time to set up a good marketing plan. Potential clients can contact you through email, or call your cell phone. You don't need anything more than that. All the technology in the world won't help until you have more leads than you can handle without it.
I decided to give away my 2 favorite videos on building a free website that actually gets real estate leads! If you try it out, can you please email me and let me know how many leads you are getting each week?.

Both technology and real estate are pretty interesting sectors that one should watch for - I feel real estate is more fluctuating between the two.

I am not an agent but I must admit that I am a productivity junkie (geek).
What finally worked for me was setting up a good paper system that works well. Paper doesn't crash have a battery that runs out.
Or course you need a phone but much can be done effectively on paper.

Real Estate Tech
I have been a licensed Realtor for 11 years. I have not invested in a Blackberry. I always have relied on email, cell and text messages. My website enables me to get text messages sent to the phone when a prospect signs up. There are many free websites available to you. Point2agent is awesome. Good luck in Real Estate it is a great business.

I have a iPhone and let me tell you it's best phone I have ever had, the best thing being the App store you can get so many RE related apps, it's insane. Now do you need one to get started in the biz.... heck's no, the cell phone you have now will do just fine. Just remember when you close that first deal make sure to stop and get a iPhone (or Blackberry if you must) you won't regret it.
