MSN - Optimization
Does anyone have any tips on MSN optimization? I heard they recently changed their algorithm, and our rankings (or lack of) proved it. Don't worry, I'm not trying to optimize for MSN!! - just want to know what's going on in the industry.

I have about 50 first page placements on the big g but I am nowhere to be found on MSN and Yahoo. Fortunately they don't matter. I have done a lot of research and always come up blank. The answers I get don't work.

Yahoo! and MSN are still good or okay SE's and should not be over looked, I used to get a lot of business from these two and I have also seen changes in MSN and would also like to find out what has happened.
Both Yahoo and MSN have millions of e-mail account holders that still regularly use the search services which is the main reason I will never turn my back on them, I understand why lots of SE promoters solely optimize for google as it has the biggest usage in the market but I never put all my eggs in one basket.

I am not ignoring them on purpose. They are ignoring me. I have done everything I could find to make them happy to no prevail. I try to not worry about things over which I have no control.

For starters, make sure your site is submitted annually to the Yahoo! directory. I can't stress that enough. It's a very simple tactic that is often overlooked.

I started out by googling "seo" and then I googled everything that I found over and over again. It involved a lot of research and a lot of writing. It took a lot of work and a lot of time but it was worth it. It is not hard, just time consuming.

I agree SEO is not hard...but can be very time consuming. Unless you change your business structure over to online only...then it is basically your job for 8+ hours a day (or in my case, about 12-15) but I dont mind.

Msn
MSN uses a different Algorithm than Google does. So they are looking for similar but different things. You are right Google owns about 60% of the search engine market.
Have you heard about MSN making a bid for Yahoo. Google is upset! As we all know there are 3 major SE's MSN, Yahoo, and GOOGLE so the combination of the bottom two will take a bigger chunk of the market if they can innovate their search engine.
If am vigorously watching to see how it all plays out.

Well, while that might not happen now, even if it does, they are going to really have to improve both Yahoo and MSN's search engine or combine them into one super search engine because right now they both stink. Right now if you are marketing a site, I wouldn't even worry too much about MSN's rankings because they are all screwed up anyway and they won't generate you nearly as much traffic as Google and Yahoo will.
