All search engines are different and therefore they treat the placement and density of the keywords differently. The main search engine is Google and you should focus on back links that have anchor text. The anchor text should be the keyword that you are trying to rank

Agreed, keyword and description is basic stuff and it something you do before you even submit your site to the major SE's.

Even though it is not the be all and end of all for SEO, it does have a major affect on the outcome of your results. Most SE's will take a snippet of your content instead of your description in your meta tags - but your title is always on display which is not only important for SE's but more importantly for visitors to tell them what your site is about.

People do things all different ways to how it works for them, but I usually use 3 keyword phrases which are similar per page to focus on that, without keyword stuffing.

the big engines ignore the keyword tag. use keyword tags for small, less sophisticated engines.

    Meta tags are a must.
A good keyword phrase title is a must.
Some keywords sprinkled within your article will natuirally find their way there so you dont have to worry about that or keyword density, which is a myth.
Submitting articles elsewhere to get extra traffic is a marketing idea that more people should use (I'm talking about not at the usual directories that everyone is using to submit articles).

Thanks matt16122. I have learned a lot from other forums and figured that I might as well pass some of that learning on to others. LOL

    I appreciate the affirmation.
