Looking to Move to College Park
My wife and I currently live in Boston. She will be starting grad school at the UMD-Baltimore this year. I want to work and live in DC so we are thinking about having her commute by MARC to classes and I by the DC metro. College Park seemed like a nice place in the DC area with access to both transportation systems. (If anyone has another place to suggest, I'm all ears.)
We're thinking of buying a condo instead of renting an apartment for the first time. I'm not sure where to start though - Do we get pre-approved by a bank for a loan first and then find a realtor in MD who can find places for us? We want to spend only as close to 100-120K as we can - Is that totally unrealistic? How many months before we move should we contact a real estate agent? How much do they charge?
I know that's a million questions but if you can answer any of them it would be a big help! Thanks, Sarah
