    Default Agent to Broker

I wanted to see if anyone here can help me with an issue. I'm a licensed Realtor in Virginia. I recently went through the required 180 hours of Broker education and sat for the PSI exams and passed both portions. The last hurdle before obtaining my Broker's license was to obtain proof that I have been an active agent for the past 36 months. This proof has to be in writting from any Broker I've had my Realtor's license with in the past 3 years. One of the Brokers refuses to return my calls or e-mails. I contacted the Board and was told that I must continue to try to get in touch with the Broker and if unsuccessful, I must submit a written appeal to the Board. I was told that process could take 3 months or more. Is it possible for a Broker to act this way without any repricussions from the Board? What other possible course of action does anyone see available to me, if any? Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

    Jose

In NC the broker in charge has to notify the real estate commission in writing about any licenses they have hanging. Does VA require the same thing? If so, the proof of your time at that office should be on record with the licensing authority.

Yes, in Virginia they're required to do the same and it is on record. However, when applying for a Brokers license, the Principal Broker has to verify that you've been working as an agent for an average of 40 hours per week for 36 of the preceeding 48 months. The Principal Broker must do this in writing. The RE Board knows that I've been a license agent for the required time, however, they still require your Broker and previous Broker to verify you as a full time agent. Thanks for the reply and if you have any other ideas, please feel free to post them.
