Default finders fee / referral fee legality?

Hi everyone. I am posting here today because i have searched endlessly on this topic and cannot seem to find the answer to a scenario i have.

Lets say that I am a real estate salesperson in the state of California. I am putting out the word that if someone brings me a client and it goes into escrow, then the person who came to me with the client gets a negotiated fixed rate (example: 500 bucks). Is that legal? Would i have to have something in writing and signed? Full disclosure? Greatly appreciate some replies, thanks.

    Default referral fees

State licensing for real estate agents varies state to state, but there are prohibitions in all states against unlicensed people earning real estate commissions. Check with the California Dept of Real Estate on what is permissible.
If you were a real estate agent, I think you would have known this.

Interesting question, this sort of thing must be going on all the time. Setting aside local licenceing issues, if you want formalise it, why not sign up to a collaboration agreement?

Ask the real estate personnel. Maybe they can provide you some help.
