    Default Whose house is it?

My son purchased a house in 2001 in his name only. He was married in 2008 for 10 months when he passed away.He did not put the wifes name on any of his assets.Does she own the home? We helped him financially (not recorded) when he bought the house. She was not in the picture until much later. Can we prevent foreclosure since she cannot afford to keep the house. We feel we have some entitlment. She managed to get a lawyer to help her & I believe she is the administrator. Some one is living in it now & making the mortgage(not her). I she sells are we entitled to some of the proceeds, since we helped out long before he met her? He had no will.

Every state handles this type of situation differently. You need to talk to an attorney in the state where the house is so you can get the low down on what laws apply to this situation.

I think you can do nothing in this case as the wife inherits the house and she is responsible for everything that goes woth the house. You can help her jsut giving her some money to avoid foreclosure.

I agree with brownnataly.. your son's wife has right and responsibilities for what goes with your son.. You can not own the house as far as I know the things.. It will be better you consult a legal adviser about your problem..
