Middle man between broker and seller needs a license?
I'm working in a call center for a company who is pulling peoples information from for sale ads on craigslist and calling them to ask for more information on the home to pass along to a buyer. It's then sold to a Realtor/Investor in their area. The company(or parent company) has a brokerage license but no one making the calls has a license?
Is this ok? It seems like a gray area but I want to make sure i'm not getting into trouble.

Can you please explain a bit further what you do? If you can clarify, you work for a company and your duties are to contact home owners who are selling their properties without a Realtor? Or are you calling a Realtor who has posted one of their listings? And then, whatever information you gather, you sell to other Realtors and/or investors? Thanks.

We contact people who post their house for sale online without a realtor(FSBO,Craigslist) and then call them and verify property details like bed/bath, price, reason selling, their name and mortgage amount and then tell them a housebuyer will call them. Then it's sold to a realtor/investor to call and talk to them about listing/make a lowball offer on it. This is done through a company who is not a broker but the parent company is. It is a call center of people doing this and none are licensed. I don't think that it's illegal but I know there are a lot more rules when it comes to the Board of Realtors.

I can see how lying to people makes you uncomfortable and depending on how the actual conversation you have with these people, you could be breaking the law.

You are right greg.. but what can a call center executive do? Its his job and he has to do it.. Of course he is breaking the law.. but i don't think he can be in any trouble in the future as the company in which he is working, is responsible for all the things...
